Shri Gujarati Pragati Samaj
In the year 1930 the Gujarati free school was started with a view to impart free education. it was a great achievement considering the fact that under British Government in those days it was very difficult to get permission to start a school.
Pragati Mahavidyalaya Degree College was started by Shri Gujarati Pragati Samaj, Hyderabad. The Samaj was established in the year 1943 with a noble intention to render educational, humanitarian and social service to people in various walks of life. Starting from a Gujarati free school in 1930 (before the establishment of Samaj) to Post Graduate College, the Samaj runs a number of educational institutions.
Shri. Mahesh S Patel, after serving as the Longest Serving President of Shri Gujarati Pragati Samaj for about 17 Years and above 25 years of Social Service for the samaj, has been instrumental in the overall development of the samaj and the institutions run by the Samaj.

Apart from the educational institutions, Shri Gujarati Pragati Samaj runs “Patel Ghanshyam Bhavan” (a Kalyana Mandapam) at Kachiguda, “Deepak Bhavan” (Guest House for tourists / Pilgrims from different parts of India) and a Girls Hostel (with the aid of the UGC) at Sultan Bazar, Hyderabad.
Shri Gujarati Pragati Samaj undertakes various schemes for the upliftment of the needy and deserving Sections of the Gujarati’s and all other sections of Telangana. It provides Medical and welfare aid for the economically weaker Sections. Moreover, the Samaj also provides benefits in the form of “Kanya Sukham” for the wedding of poor girls “Corona adoption scheme” for the Corona affected families, “Scholarships” for the deserving students every year.
In order to keep our culture and our values alive among the younger generation, the Samaj Organises various Programmes like Bhagvad Katha, Bathukamma, Bonalu, Navarathri, Celebrations etc.,
About 5000 Gujarati families of Telangana are an integral part of our Gujarati Pragati Samaj family. Along with the alumni students, staff and their families, our Samaj, is growing to be a bigger family with every passing year and hopes to bring about positive change in the Society through our efforts.
