Pragati Mahavidyalaya Degree College, Managed by Shri Gujarati Pragati Samaj was established in the year 1973 with a generous donation by Shri M.C. Modi Education trust to serve the educational needs of the Society without any discrimination in terms of caste, Creed, religion etc., The College was started with Just 43 students and now it has about 2500 students studying various undergraduate courses like B.Com. (General), B.Com.(Computer Applications) B.Com. (Business Analytics), B.Sc. (MECs., MSCs., MPCs., and Data Science) and BBA.

Pragati Mahavidyalaya being one of the oldest educational institution of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad has an illustrious list of alumni. The college takes pride in mentioning that Shri Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Brij Bala Krishnan, Col. Naveen Reddy, Shri Devraj Reddy, former ICAI Chairman, etc., are the alumni of the College.

Sri Gujarati Pragati Samaj, Hyderabad, with a desire to render educational, humanitarian and social service has been rendering yeoman service in various walks of life. With a modest beginning over six decades ago, these activities have grown by leaps and bounds. The Samaj has a string of educational institutions in the Twin cities, the first one being Sri Gujarati Vidya Mandir which was started in the year 1930.
